distinguishing features: Obviously Kendra is a girl, and as far as she's concerned, doesn't need womanly features to pronounce that fact. Which is fortunate, as she doesn't exactly have any womanly features -- she's flat, she's scrawny, and honestly has the figure of a thirteen-year-old boy. Only to add to her unfortunate shape are her awkwardly set limbs and disproportion. She has very small eyes as well, that are set above her pronounced
appearance overview: Kendra has never once weighed more than one hundred and ten pounds; she's an extremely petite girl, standing at a steady five feet and two inches, with an almost boyish figure. The limbs that extend from her scrawny, twig-like physique only add to her awkward shape. Her arms are long and seemingly disproportionate with her short legs -- topped off with long, spindly fingers as well. Although in spite of her awkwardly set extensions and extremely short build, Kendra stands with a straight, haughty air that really kicks out any child-like or weakling assumptions toward her appearance, or build.
It's also her face that reveals her inner maturity, as well as a certain beauty. She's got small, round, although piercing, pale blue eyes that can have tints of gray, depending on the lighting and such. They're enhanced with minimal amounts of thin eyeliner and eyeshadow -- usually in the smoky shades of gray and black, that complement her warm, sun-kissed skin. Set above them are two thin, somewhat short brows that don't extend past her hues, and match her natural hair color. Kendra's also got a thin, sharp nose and average sized non-connected ears. Her lips are somewhat thin, although still pretty; the bottom one is slightly larger than the upper, giving her a constant, natural pout. They are her favorite out of her features -- all of which are set on her long, heart shaped head, with a large, four-finger forehead and slightly prominent chin.
Vanessa manifests thick, very bodied, dark brown hair -- in the summer, with lighter deep auburn or golden highlights. It's curly for the most part, although forms into slight waves toward the tips. It's very layered and sheared; the longest of the layers extend to chest-length on a normal day-to-day basis, although have the ability to change depending on the nature of her curls for that day. Her bangs are long and vary between a side-swept styling or parted down the middle; in the previous form, usually covering her right eye.
Kendra manifests thin and wispy auburn locks that fall from her skull in a wavy, choppy, and extremely layered fashion. They cascade loosely to the middle of her back in many, messy, yet tasteful, layers. The shortest of these levels frame her head nicely with long bangs that sweep across her brow, usually covering her left eye. There are often many stray stands that seem to add more dimension to her sheared layers. Though, it would be injustice to call any single strand a 'stray' one -- tousled and wiry, her otherwise silky tresses fly freely and somewhat unkempt about her.
Pastel or natural colors, various accessories, wacky patterns and prints, and mis-match articles of clothing usually embellish her frame at all times. Kendra's biggest statement would, hands-down, have to be her sense of fashion, or controversially, lack-of. Her style consists of pretty, soft, and unique pieces. Although she hates winter, she loves to wear hats and scarves and gets through the season with that in mind. Ankles boots and knee-high socks, costume jewelry, berets, bows, multi-layered tops, sun dresses, mini skirts, leggings, patterned skinny-jeans, etc.

personality overview: Kendra is for the most part content with life and, as a result, perpetually smiling. However, that's not to say she's particularly happy or bubbly toward anything and everything. In fact, she's quite the opposite of that 'hyperactive, sunny-side-up girl' -- always calm and serene; it's a wonder she's actually able to get her emotions out there, as they're rarely ever expressed. That continual smile of hers doesn't reveal anything, as it's forever there and ceases to change with event or emotion -- or as much as one could possibly remain indifferent. It's somewhat mischievous and quizzical, despite whatever thought might be running through her head. For all someone might know, she could be thinking about breakfast rather than scheming.
Which is probably the case, as Kendra is rarely mischievous or scheming and finds people that are bothersome and annoying. She's rarely ever bored and generally views peace and quiet as something to be sought after. However, that's not to say she can't be irritated, because in actuality Kendra can grow irked with people to the same extent as everyone else. Fortunately, she's also an extremely easy person to please, that doesn't require much work, and gets over most things moderately quick. If you're unfortunate enough to piss her off, there isn't much more required of you than to give her some alone time to dismiss the problem entirely; grudges aren't something she clings to.
She doesn't care what other people think of her, no matter how much everyone else believes that about themselves, for Kendra it's certainly true. Mainly chill and relaxed, Kendra likes to go with the flow and remain uninterrupted by rules, restrictions, and commitments. She's never felt secure about committing herself to anything and, as a result, is extremely unorganized in just about everything. Any sort of organization or strict regulation will just make her feel tied down and stressed -- something she's never been good at handling. She avoids every aspect of obligation and responsibility; she doesn't like to let people down or make herself look weak or worthless, or be a liability. She strongly dislikes making decisions and is clearly afraid to for fear of messing up or screwing anyone over, herself included. She knows she is a disagreeable person, to put it lightly, and she honestly doesn't care. In her opinion, very few people are worth her time, and if a person isn't worth her time, she doesn't care about making a good impression on them, so she doesn't even try. She's self-centered and when it comes down to it, ultimately looks out for herself because she doesn't think anyone else will.
It's virtually impossible not to see that Kendra isn't exactly a caring person -- serious and sentimental moments are a bit difficult for her. Kendra hates showing signs of vulnerability to others; she shows awkwardness toward any kind of appreciation and actually tries to avoid it. Note that Kendra is not used to receiving praise from others because of her constant detachment, as well as a certain objectivity. In all honesty, she's very scared of caring about people. In her experience, not much good comes from it, just a lot of hurt and pain -- after all, it lead to her mother's eventual breakdown and perpetual instability. She doesn't like the idea of relying on or needing anyone, despite the fact that she actually does it herself. Although, that's not to say she's determined and prefers to do things one-hundred percent on her own, because it's really just the opposite; she's somewhat manipulative and uses people -- liking things to be carried out for her, but never committing herself to that person and seeing them rather as a tool than actually needing them.
Kendra is a casual beneficiary. She's the kind of person who'll get a little bit done, but leave a few areas unattended because she knows she'll get someone else to do it eventually. She can do things on her own but she doesn't know it, and has always been the one who takes the shortcut that's just as effective, anyway. Some may call her lazy or ungrateful, but she and those who know better see her as an inventor. She's lived through life not rocking the boat, but the moment will come when the knack for situational intelligence will be very handy. She can usually talk herself out of a sticky situation even if she didn't get herself into it. Book smarts aren't her thing because her life depends on people skills. It's the easy way for her, but there are those who are a step ahead. She needs to be aware because they'll foil her plan and then she'll have very little to fall back on. But, knowing her, a little is quite a lot.
It's easy to see Kendra's a complex girl. Her emotionally unstable past has stained her and, consequently, has warped her into an indifferent, secluded, opinionated, and fake young woman. She's fabricated the image of being 'happy' and 'easy-going' toward everything from an early age, as she believes no-one is ever going to make her truly happy, and that she simply needs to accept whatever is given to her -- never expecting more. She may believe she's 'self-sufficient', but in reality, she uses other people to do her bidding, as she's far too insecure with herself and her own abilities. However, that stubborn persona prevents her from backing down about the matter. Whether she's right or wrong, she will defend her side of it relentlessly. If she ever admits she's wrong, it's only going to be to someone she genuinely cares about, which is a rare thing in itself. She's virtually unstable, confused, hypocritical, and honestly is oblivious to the actual reality of life.

history:
Kendra was born into a normal enough family in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with two parents, two younger brothers, and a younger sister -– the youngest girl and boy being twins, actually. Her father, Pieter, worked as a contractor for small businesses, while her mother, Maxine, stayed and worked as a home-keeper in their average sized house for six. Her father had wanted little to do with the magical world when he moved virtually half-way around the world to Muggle city: Colorado Springs, USA. As a halfblood himself, he'd never entirely accepted the oddity as did his older brother, Jeremy. Thus, he had done what he thought had been 'leaving the old world behind', and never planned to return his birthplace in the UK. The family wasn't rich, nor was it incredibly unique. No, it was just normal, comfortable, and moderately satisfying. And her life stayed that happy and normal up until she reached the age of ten -- that's when her father died.
Clearly, it was an unexpected accident; however, that's not to say the matter was entirely surprising or hard to believe, considering the circumstances. Pieter had always had a bit of a temper and was naturally prone to violence and loosing control. However, one night things were taken to a far greater level than usual, got out of hand, and went horribly awry. An irritation directed at Maxine, followed by a late night at the local bar and an encounter with an unfriendly group were the means that led to his inevitable end. To make things simple, there was a fight, provoked by Pieter, and one of the younger men heaved Pieter onto bar's counter -- smashing him into the wall in the process and causing him to topple over one side there after. It was violent and he hadn't prepared himself for the impact. He broke his neck, and it killed him immediately.
It devastated the entire family, but especially Kendra's mother. Maxine and Pieter had met just after he'd made his journey to the United States at age 24. Maxine had been in college at the time, and they got married during her senior year of it. She loved her husband, enough that when he had explained his heritage and that he wanted to move to some backward country Colorado area, she gave up what she'd wanted to do -- travel the world and eventually settle in a big city -- to be with him. She reasoned that as long as she was with him, she'd be okay no matter where she was. And, well, now he was dead. Maxine had always been a flighty person by nature, but this only worsened that. And suddenly she didn't think she could be a parent anymore.
It took quite a bit of legal work, but by the time it was over with Kendra and her three siblings were in the custody of Pieter's parents near Oxford, England, and Maxine was running home to her own, but only for a short time. She'd come from more wealth and status than her husband, and her parents spoiled her. When she told them she wanted to travel, they gave in easily and even thought it would be good for her. They also agreed to help Pieter's parents pay for raising her children while she was away, since they had the money to do so, but Maxine's travels took away most of their wealth simply because she stayed away for so long. She never intended on leaving her children with her late husband's parents forever, but at this point it's been nearly seven years and there doesn't seem to be any sign that she's returning.
Which is honestly just fine with Kendra (usually). The fact that at one point she was close with her mother has been pushed out of her mind entirely, because she simply can't get over how horrible she felt -- first because of the death of her father, then the abandonment of her mother, made worse by the fact that when Kendra still wanted her to come home. Maxine tossed off excuses and came up with every reason she could not to. Kendra's reaction to that was not a good one -- she forced herself to mature as quickly as she could, and as a result in many ways isn't mature at all. She purposely severed her relationship with her mother and has refused to talk to her for the past couple of years now, and the event has left a lasting effect on her that is noticeable to this day, though most people have no clue as to why she is the way she is. Her relationships with her siblings are strained as well -- she hates her brother Mackie, and yet loves him at the same time, and though she's not near as hostile toward Jennica and Nikolas, she's not exactly close to them either.

roleplay sample:
Breelee's uncanny ability to do something without actually doing anything always seemed to prove one-hundred percent efficient. For example, she was currently searching for a book among the thousands of books in the library that sat almost eagerly waiting to be read. However, the girl had no intentions of studying and she wasn't really sure she even liked to read. Well, she did enjoy an escape just as much as, well more, than the next person, but reading never really seemed to perk her interest. She preferred to work her own imagination, not delve into someone's else that had only gotten as far enough to be printed on some dusty, old page. Breelee only hoped her own dreams and ambitions would be more than just a story. Although, she wasn't really sure what those were either and, for now, she could do nothing but stir up thoughts as her cerulean hues glazed over neatly arranged book spines, in a very nonchalant manner.
Obviously not thoroughly entertained, yet still not completely bored, Breelee found herself finished with this isle. Actually, she had been finished with every isle. Reading was now out of the question; her previous thoughts had extinguished every possibility there'd been for her to pick up a book and read. Still, she'd had no intentions of leaving the Library, for what reason, she did not entirely know; however, she presumed it was because it was a quite, relaxing place -- probably the most soothing of every area within the castle. Even the Ravenclaw Common Room was not always up to par. In spite of anything most people expected of Ravenclaws, teenagers were teenagers. No-one possessed the ability to be a bookworm all of the time.
She made herself comfortable in a cozy, maroon armchair. It had looked very appealing from her previous position near the self, and Breelee had taken it upon herself to occupy the seat. It wasn't far from the Library's entrance; she could still see the few other students who'd also opted to skip or finish lunch early. It was a Monday; Mondays always made Breelee be at a loss of appetite. It was strange, but had become somewhat of a ritual. Apparently the slowest, most uneventful day of the week made the girl feel rather sick. Even for quiet, non-sociable girls like Breelee, boredom was never good.
Her long, platinum locks were sprawled over her shoulders from when she'd so quickly thrown herself into the chair. She didn't mind though; she was far too preoccupied. Her legs were crossed over one another, her hands were rested on her lap and her bright blue eyes were fixated on the object that she held in one of her hands; a rose in full bloom, its petals a dark red color similar to that of blood. She held it by its stem, which had neatly been severed from its roots, her fingers carefully placed in between the thorns and leaves which were the rose's defenses. Her other hand reached up to her head and her long slender fingers slowly ran through an upper layer of hair. They came out the ends of her hair without having caught on a single knot or tangle, and the layers sprung back into their places. She then brought her free hand back around, down toward the rose, and carefully gripped a single delicate petal between her forefinger and thumb. With a small yank the petal broke free of the rose, where as Breelee let go of it, and it fluttered down toward the ground like some strange red butterfly.
She'd found the perfect flower on the ground just outside the Library as she'd come in. There were more, sprawled in a sad fashion on the floor near a shattered vase, which Breelee presumed had been their previous residence. She'd obviously decided to pick one up, and it had, carefully, been clenched in her hand since that moment.
She continued on to pluck another petal from the flower, and another, and another. All the while she was muttering something under her breath as she watched the free petals scatter before her. And as the number of petals still clinging to the flower decreased, she starting talking louder. What she was saying was about no-one in particular, she just felt it was the proper thing to do.
"He loves me, he loves me not..."
