((sooo, i based a lot of this bio off the person who used to play the older finnigan son. he's no longer a part of the site, but since i don't feel like editing the history, i'm just going to leave it for now. if you're thinking of playing a finnigan family member - which would totally make my day but is besides the point - and need me to change any part of my biography to make your character how you want him/her...just shoot me a pm. =])

although she isn’t ugly by any means, mackenzie lacks the appropriate curves and aura that attract fifteen year old boys. she’s a fairly average looking girl, standing at five foot seven inches, with a slender body. many of her feature’s resemble her mother’s, including her sapphire blue eyes and chestnut brown hair. her hair is naturally curly, and no matter how hard she tries, she can never get it to sit nicely. she has long learned to just give up on it. for the most part, the girl’s state of hair is dependent on the weather that day she has a fair complexion, and it lightens significantly in the summer. her arms and back are spotted with small, brown freckles. ironically, her face lacks them.
the girl doesn’t care for makeup, and if it weren’t for her bubbly personality and permanent smile, she would look rather timid. she always wears a wristful of bracelets on her left hand, most of which she made or received as a present. mackenzie wears small diamond earrings in her ears and a silver necklace with a peace symbol pendant. when not in her school robes, mackenzie prefers the tee and jeans look. she rarely ever got dressed up, even as a child, much to her mother’s dismay. mack would pick her brothers’ hand-me-downs over the stuffy outfits her mother bought her, anyday. at school, most of her shirts sport ravenclaw or the irish national quidditch team colors. the rest are tie-dyed or vibrantly colored with her favorite quotes or lyrics from her favorite bands. despite the cold weather at hogwarts, mackenzie always wears flip flops. her sneakers only come out for quidditch practice and snowy days. for the most part, the girl’s look matches her personality, carefree and spirited.

fears: the death of her father, any physical injury that would prevent her from playing quidditch, spiders, ending up alone in life
patronus: a swift fox;; mackenzie is very much like her father in every way but her appearance. her father’s patronus is a red fox. mackenzie’s patronus, although of the same genus, reflects her emotionally solitary personality and exceptional agility
personality overview: Mackenzie is a light-hearted, loving person. She’s always smiling and trying to make the best of situations. Her wide range of interests make it easy for her to fit in everywhere. She’s the person that everyone turns to when they need a favor or a good laughing. Mack always tries to help a friend in need and carries around a bar of Honeydukes finest milk chocolate at all times. It’s her quick fix for all ailments.
The Ravenclaw has good acquaintances in most of the social cliques in the school. She has a bubbly, happy personality that pulls people towards her, and if she ever needs someone to hang out with, Mack doesn’t have a problem finding someone. But at the same time, she doesn’t have a set group of friends or a clique to which she belongs. Her only group identities are from her house and the Quidditch team. Mackenzie doesn’t feel incomplete or isolated, though, because her dad’s her best friend, even at this age. They rarely ever fight, since they’re essentially the same person, and neither of them takes anything too seriously or ever picks fights, unless it has to do with someone attacking their family.
As a child, she always preferred the company of boys over girls; she has more in common with them. In the past several years, however, most of her male friends found significant others or at least became distracted by prettier girls. Mack found herself not truly fitting into any one group and simply decided to be friends with everyone. To her, drama and gossip are a waste of time. She doesn’t really realize it, but this carefree and happy-go-lucky attitude has caused her to become a wanderer. Unless she is studying or at practice, Mackenzie is normally exploring the grounds or reading a book under the shade of a tree.
The Ravenclaw is an eternal optimist. She always tries to see the best in everything and everyone. It probably is annoying at times for those who spend a lot of time with her, but even during the darkest times, Mack focuses on whatever light there is. Sometimes people take advantage of her because of it, but because she never spends too much time with any one person, she normally realizes it before someone can get close enough to hurt her. Truth is a big deal to Mackenzie. She always tells the situation how it is, and although her advice is almost always dead on, it’s honest and blunt. Mack also expects the same of others. She believes that it’s a waste of time to beat around the bush or gossip about people behind their backs.
Mackenzie loves trying new things, whether it’s knitting with her grandmother or going to the new restaurant in Hogsmeade. She’s always up for an adventure and is the friend who is always willing to drop whatever she’s doing to accompany you somewhere. On the downside, Mack is a quick learner, and often gets bored of things if they don’t hold her attention or challenge her. by the time everyone else becomes tired of something, the Ravenclaw has already gone through three more things. The few things that she never gets bored of are sports and art. To her, those are things that always hold new secrets and things that she’ll never be able to learn everything about. She’s not really good at anything artistic other than scrapbooking and making jewelry, but she still enjoys it.
Although Mackenzie cares about her studies, her good grades come from her natural intelligence rather than any sort of hard work. Unlike her older brother, once Mackenzie’s heard something once, it’s committed to memory, whether it’s her mother telling her to run errands, her potion’s professor reading instructions out loud, or her friend telling her a story. Her grades aren’t perfect, and she certainly is not top of her house, let alone her year. but she knows when she needs to study and when it’s okay to spend a couple extra hours on the pitch or throwing a Frisbee around.
Finally, Mackenzie is a sports fanatic. she gets her hardcore love for Quidditch from her father and grandma Finnigan, and her love for Muggle football (soccer) from her Uncle Dean, much to her father’s dismay. The field is the only place where Mack’s competitive nature comes out. She’s a natural athlete and truly plays for love of the game. The Ravenclaw is always learning new moves and working to perfect her every technique. Quidditch is her life. This often causes rows with her elder brother, but she doesn’t mind. They aren’t very similar in nature, and she’s come to terms with it. She loves him anyways. Whenever she goes to visit her Uncle Dean, Mackenzie joins the Muggle children in pick-up football games all day. but in perspective, Quidditch is the only thing that Mackenzie is truly excellent in.

history:
Mackenzie is her daddy’s girl, through and through. Although Mack loves her mother very much, the woman spent most of her time chasing around Mack’s two brothers, who were always fighting over something or getting themselves into trouble one way or another. The girl would, therefore, finish her chores as soon as they were given to her and spent the rest of the day by herself in her room reading books or drawing new pictures to put up on the refrigerator. At five o’clock, the girl would run downstairs and sit on her favorite chair, which faced their fireplace and wait for her father to come home from work. From the moment he stepped out of the fireplace to the time she went to bed, she was attached to his side.
The garage was filled with Muggle gadgets and items that were essentially useless for the Finnigan family but held sentimental value to her father. The two of them would often go down there after dinner and go through all of the things that were stored away in the dozens of cardboard boxes. Mackenzie would sit in awe as her father would tell time and time again the story of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and the great Harry Potter. Her favorite part was the final battle. It seemed like something out of a fairy tale, almost too exciting to actually happen in a place as normal as England. But it had happened, and her parents had been a part of it. Although she hoped something as awful as that never happened again, Mackenzie always wondered what it would have been like to be there. In the midst of it all. There was no doubt in her mind that she would have fought alongside the just side.
Mackenzie was the only female grandchild on both sides of the family and was doted upon by both of her grandmothers. From her grandma Finnigan, Mackenzie inherited her undying love for Quidditch and the Irish National Team. Her room is decked in posters of all the players and souvenirs from the games that her father takes her to. Her grandma Fawcett was very artistic and taught Mackenzie everything she knows. The Ravenclaw is nowhere near as good as her grandmother, but she still sketches often as a stress reliever.
As a child, Mackenzie would keep her father’s yearbook from Hogwarts in her room. She would flip through the pages anxiously waiting for the time when she would be able to attend the school, herself. She had cried for days when Felix left for school. She had begged her father over and over again to let her go as well. But when it finally was her turn, she cried and begged for her father to come with her. Her homesickness quickly vanished as she got settled at Hogwarts. The castle soon became her home away from home. Ravenclaw was the perfect place for her. The Sorting Hat had actually spent much time on the girl. It had initially wanted to place her into Hufflepuff, but the prestigious Fawcett brains were too overwhelming to ignore.
At Hogwarts, Mackenzie made a decent number of friends. She loves hanging out and partying and just having a good time. She’s never been romantically, emotionally or physically, involved with anyone. Mack was always just “one of the guys” and placed into the just friends category. Ironically, she often ended up giving her crushes advice on how to ask out the girls that they liked. Most of her time is dedicated to the team. She wants to win the Quidditch cup more than anything else this year.

roleplay sample:
It was interesting for Mackenzie not to be analyzing every word that came out of the boy’s mouth and not to be trying to form patterns out of his actions. The girl was gifted in first impressions. It was hard for her to be outright mean to people without cause, and even when she could see the bad characteristics in people, she tried to overlook it, with the exception of arrogance and outright cruelty. It had been quite evident from their first meeting, however, that Rollo possessed no bad qualities. He had everything that Mack could ever want in a boyfriend. And maybe it was this that got her. Her analytic nature went hand in hand in her critical mind frame. It was odd for such an outwardly kind and welcoming person to be so critical in her mind. But her mind automatically criticized everyone she met, herself included. Rollo had proved to be an anomaly. The gears in her head didn’t work on overdrive in his presence. His words simply went to a storage space in the back of her mind. They were memories that were sure to bring a smile to her face on days, in the near future she assumed, when she would truly need a little happiness in her day.
And she supposed that she didn’t need to delve deeper into his words and actions because he wasn’t giving her any subliminal messages or unspoken tests. His actions and intentions were as pure as his heart. She thought back to her first day of Hogwarts and tried to see if she could remember him being sorted. But she couldn’t; he would’ve been sorted much earlier than she was, and she had probably been shyly standing in the back of the corner not paying attention to anything but controlling her nerves. She would bet money, though, that the hat had literally screamed Hufflepuff the moment it touched his hair. He was a Hufflepuff through and through.
And whereas her dedication to her own house was almost comparable to his love for Hufflepuff, it was in a much different way. The Sorting Hat had not been so sure that Ravenclaw was the house for her. She was exceptionally bright for her age, but that wasn’t the only qualification for being sorted into the house. It was what most people associated the blue and bronze emblem with, but in all honesty, there were extremely intelligent students in all three of the other houses. The hat had debated had initially suggested Gryffindor. It had told her that all she needed to do in life was follow her heart. The eleven-year-old version of herself, however, was much like the girl she had been before meeting Rollo, emotionally scarred and isolated from her peers. She had told the Sorting Hat that it was her brain that was her key to success and happiness, not her broken, useless heart. She would get through life being practical and analytical. Her life would be planned out and deliberate. The Sorting Hat had finally obliged to her wishes and sent her to the Ravenclaw table.
She had fallen in love with her house immediately. Her housemates had become her true family. Sure, she probably annoyed a lot of them every once in a while, but that was her and Lucy’s job. Ravenclaw Quidditch was her life, next to the wonderful boy standing next to her of course, and her trunk was filled with Ravenclaw apparel and accessories. Needless to say, she was a hardcore Ravenclaw. But being with Rollo had made her realize something important. Maybe it was possible for her to live by following her heart. Maybe she didn’t have to think every single thing through. Maybe her life was fated. Whatever was going to happen would happen, and it was just job just to live life in the moment, and simply ensure that she was a good person and that she enjoyed life. Thanks to Rollo, she finally understood what the Sorting Hat had told her many years ago.
Thinking about that evening and the Sorting ceremony also reminded her of her best friend. They had met that night and remained best friends ever since. But for the past couple weeks, Mack’s life lacked Lucy’s presence. Mackenzie had received an owl from the girl one day during breakfast. Mack had simply assumed that Lucy had slept in that day and that she would see her in class later that day. But the note, which had been hard to read due to her best friends evidently quickly scribbled words, had told her quite a startling piece of information. Lucy had to go home for a family emergency. The two girls told each other everything, but there was no explanation attached to the end of the lone sentence. No return date. No means of contact. Mackenzie wrote a note on the back of the parchment but had received no reply. Several more notes had also been sent, with no better response. It had been almost a fortnight, and Mackenzie was more than worried. But she kept on telling herself that Lucy would be fine and that she would be back soon. She had asked the Head of the House and several of her professors if they knew anything. They told her that Lucy’s family had made arrangements with the school, but they weren’t allowed to disclose any of that information.
Although she could not imagine that Rollo could be any more important to her than he already was, she realized that with Lucy’s absence. He was all she really had. It was true that she had many other peers and housemates that she associated with, and she really did love them with all their heart. But it was not even close to comparable to her love for Rollo. For what seemed like the millionth time that week, she thanked her lucky stars and all who were watching over her for having met Rollo. She would be a lost soul without him.
As they entered town, Rollo and Mackenzie went by several of the common hangouts for Hogwarts students. All were obviously bustling with their peers. But Mackenzie had absolutely no desire to join them and was thankful when they passed them up. She personally preferred the quieter end of town. On visits when the weather was warmer, she would come down here with a couple of books and spend the day reading beneath a tree or near another secluded area. As Rollo’s words processed in her mind, Mackenzie realized that they both must’ve been in thought for several moments. She enjoyed that about their relationship, though. More often than not, silent moments in conversation were considered awkward or uneasy. But with them, all the two of them needed was each other’s presence. The Ravenclaw imagined that if they needed to, they could probably spend hours together in silence, each doing their own work and simply sharing interesting facts or asking a question about an assignment, and they would be perfect content with that.
“You’d be good at that.” Mackenzie replied. It seemed like the perfect fit for the boy. Mackenzie wondered whether she would find her place in any of her current homes, Hogwarts or Diagon Alley. She doubted that she would be a good professor; she wasn’t good enough in any one subject. Maybe Diagon Alley would serve her well. She realized though that it was unimportant. Well, it actually was quite important but not necessarily at this moment in her life. She have her meeting next week, but it would do her better to simply get the necessary OWLs in all of her classes. She would then be able to continue onto the NEWT levels, therefore buying her more time by keeping her options. She just needed to chill out a bit and simply let her life take its own course.
“How’s Teppei doing?” She asked. Mack was sure that the cat was not especially happy being the part time third wheel in their group of three. She was sure that Rollo spent whatever time possible with him, but it probably wasn’t the same. “Guessing I’m not his favorite person in the world huh?”
