The Hogwarts grounds were beautiful, no matter what the weather was like, but to Landon Appleton, they were perfect in the fall. It wasn’t freezing, like it was in the winter, but neither was it so hot that he was sweating, like it was in the last few days before summer vacation. The wind was crisp, in a way, and the grass was green but dry, perfect to lie on. Landon was doing just that, settling himself under a tree close to the lake with his arms spread out. He could stay there forever, he decided, just watching the clouds. It was peaceful and quiet, with everyone else inside worrying about all the schoolwork they had due for the next day. Landon, being Landon, had left all of his books in the dorm and immediately made his way outside after his last class, only stopping long enough to shed his robes.
His shoes and socks had been discarded for flip-flops – the manly kind, of course – and he’d slid into a pair of baggy denims and a plain white t-shirt. Donny wasn’t the type to worry too much about his looks, which sometimes was what attracted girls to him. He managed to look fantastic while still looking like he’d just rolled out of bed, which he had, the majority of the time. His blonde hair was always a little too long and it was usually hanging in his eyes, and at the moment he had the equivalent of a five o’clock shadow dancing across his jaw. For Landon, the last week had been dreadfully boring, although not in the relaxing kind of boring. It just hadn’t been exciting. What the boy really needed at the moment was some good, old-fashioned entertainment, and he knew exactly where to find it.
Grinning, Donny reached into his pocket and slid out his ComTech, the wizarding world’s equivalent of a Muggle cellular phone. Thinking it over for a minute, he quickly typed a message and sent it to Lucy Weasley, demanding that she drop everything and get out to the grounds now because he wanted to see her. And it was true, he did – Lucy was the closest thing he had to a little sister, in his opinion. He wasn’t sure how fond she was of that title, but she had learned to deal with it, and Landon took the role very seriously. He was very, very protective of the girl, and he was often overheard using the phrase, “I am a boy, I know how they think!” in her presence. It was probably strange for some people to see Landon act the way he did with Lucy, because he was known to be such a player, but he ignored them most of the time.
Tossing his phone onto the grass beside him, he locked his fingers behind his head and leaned back against the grass again, waiting for Lucy to make her appearance. ooc: finally got it up! i'm sorry it took so long, and i'm SUPER sorry it's so short. the next will be better, promise. :][LT:the classic crime - salt in the snow]

Lucy found herself sitting in the common room, pouring over her transfiguration book, as she did in most of her free time. When she wasn't out causing mischief, of course. She glanced at the table with a frown as her ComTech buzzed loudly, signaling that she had a message. She rolled her eyes. She hated the thing, truly, but it had it's uses which, thus far, was the only thing that had kept her from simply chucking the thing out the window of the highest tower and hoping it hit a Slytherin in the head at the same time. She was really tempted to do it sometimes. They could never pin it on her, either, as intentional. It could be such an easy "woops, I dropped it by accident" thing. No one ever needed to be the wiser. It would make such a lovely little missile. Despite all appearances, though, she didn't have a death wish (her father would definitely kill her if she dropped it) and, as aforementioned, the thing did prove useful.....every once in a while. So she did her best not to damage the thing when she started seeing red.
Still frowning slightly, the girl leaned forward, grabbing the contraption off the table and flipping it open to read the message from Landon. Essentially it said she needed to get her ass down to the lake right that second. "What if I don't want to?" she tapped back, pressing the send button. Despite the question, she was already carefully closing the book and getting to her feet, tucking the devise into her pocket. She had shed her school robes the moment she was out of class for a jean skirt and teeshirt, along with a pair of red flats. She liked skirts, for all she might not have seemed the type to some, and they were perfect for this sort of weather.
Slipping her feet into the flats she had discarded upon entering the common room, she slipped out the portrait of the fat lady and skipped lightly down the steps. Her feet carried her easily along the halls of Hogwarts. She knew the place almost by heart, and she didn't really have to think about where she was going. Her feet just took her to the destination she had in mind. IT was only a few moments later that she was pushing through the doors onto the grounds, tipping her freckled face back to take in the sunshine, lids closing over blue eyes to avoid being blinded. She didn't revel in her sillyness for long before she was setting off across the grounds. A few of the boys gave her some looks, one even going so far as to whistle for her, and the fourth year blushed furiously. She hadn't really realized when she put the thing on just exactly how short the skirt was, and now she found herself tugging it down self consciously.
Of course, it wasn't long before Landon came into view, all sprawled out by the lake. She was really tempted to just go splashing in. It was the perfect day for it, and the water looked crystal clear. One couldn't possibly guess the creatures it kept hidden in its depths. She sighed as she wandered over to Landon, going slowly now just to aggravate him, not that he'd necessarily even seen her yet. He tended to know when she was near by, though. Some big brother syndrome thing, she supposed. Not that she didn't have enough practical brothers already, amongst the Potter/Weasley crew, but she didn't mind. She liked the title. It meant she didn't really have to worry about weird-o crushes and feelings and butterflies amongst people she had known for years. The whole big brother little sister thing was an easy relationship, safe, without any dark, unexplored corners that left either party wondering what it would be like to be something more. Sure, Lu tended to live a bit on the edge, but definitely not when it came to friends.
She flopped down beside Landon and gave him a poke, just to be annoying, then flashed him an innocent grin. "I'm here" she told him with a laugh. "What are the other two wishes?"
