---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- lucy weasley made her way through the portrait of the fat lady, after mumbling the password. it was nearly too late to be out and she knew she was pushing the limits, but since when had breaking rules bothered her? or any of her own, for that matter. since...oh yeah, never, she thought to herself with a sly little smirk. oh yes, they were quite the troublemakers. and she had actually been doing something worth while. well, by some people's standards. she had been filching stuff from the kitchens, so at the moment, her arms were pretty loaded with food, and she nearly lost her balance coming through the portrait hole, catching herself, but barely. it was a near thing. lucy tended to have some balance problems on her own two feet, although it always seemed to get worse when she was carrying bunches of stuff. you'd never guess it to watch her fly, though. she was pretty good on a broomstick.
she knew that, without a doubt, she would be sharing her haul with at least the rest of the clan and with any luck (or lack thereof) the rest of gryffindor house, too. not that lucy minded. if she did, she wouldn't have brought so much (for she had come loaded down and looking prepared), and she would have kept it hidden and she wouldn't be dropping all of it on the table in the center of the common room. lu was a pretty easygoing sort of person, though. there was little that phased her or bothered her. unless you pissed her off, which generally involved dissing one of her family members or friends, or being a slytherin, or looking at her the wrong way. and then she wasn't so laid back and she was quite the little spitfire. her temper was a huge problem of hers, she knew, and she had been working on it...sort of, half-heartedly, well, not really. she knew that was a lie, and she didn't like lying. unless she was covering for a friend, and then she had absolutely no qualms about it whatsoever. she couldn't cover for herself nearly as well though. only when somebody else's skin was on the line, it seemed. with a sigh and a rather self satisfied smile, she flopped down next to the table on the ground and started going through all the stuff. she quickly grabbed herself some pumpkin pasties before they could get snagged by anyone else and moved away from the table so she didn't get trampled. or at least not quite as badly. she didn't like that much, and she had actually had it happen before. definitely not a fan, so she tried to avoid it as best she could. she got to her feet and flopped down into an abandoned arm chair, curling herself into a cozy little ball, as was her habit. [/blockquote] TAG; freddie weasley.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IN BETWEEN THE LINES THERE'S A LOT OF OBSCURITY --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'M NOT INCLINED TO RESIGN TO MATURITY "For the last bloody time! I'm not giving you the recipe for nosebleed nougats! Just deal with not having your homework done, Rose!" Freddie tossed aside his Transfiguration book and rose from the couch he'd been sharing with a few fifth year students in front of the fire. His younger cousin was sitting in a chair apart from them, looking rather scandalized at his outburst, but silent nonetheless. She'd been pestering him all evening long instead of actually doing her homework. It was one thing to blow off the essay writing or fact checking in order to pull off a prank or sneak out to see a boy or whatnot. It was completely another to just sit around gossiping with your friends about the latest teen heartthrob in the muggle world. And Merlin's beard! How many names they could let fly off the tip of their tongues. Freddie had half a mind to shove puking pastils into each of their mouths before he scampered across the room for the safety of manly talk.
Sadly, this was a pattern of speech he wouldn't get to right away. Instead, he was side tracked by the entrance of his other cousin. Dear god, there were so many of them. The Weasley clan surely had the run of the school, if not the Gryffindor house. He was beginning to wonder if one day soon the entire house would be nothing but redheaded Weasley children, all bickering and playing pranks on one another. It wasn't a truly full day unless there was a family fight in the Gryffindor commons, which also meant a visit from the headmistress, and Freddie's dear aunt Ginny. Of course, her special visits to straighten out the children were often times directed at her own children more than anyone else, but Freddie got his fair share of unwanted attentions. Of course, Freddie was the primary cause of most of the disturbance anyways. He was just really good at hiding his involvement. "I've been doing this for years, Lou," he once told his cousin, Louis when the boy asked about his depleting mounds of detentions. Troublemaking was just a normal part of Freddie's life.
In fact, the moment he saw Lucy enter the commons, trouble began brewing. Sidling up to the table, he grabbed a treacle tart sliver and held it between his fingers. His eyes narrowed suspiciously as he neared the younger cousin. "Didn't really figure you for skulking around the castle after curfew, Lu," he took a bite of the tart and chewed for a moment while his free hand brushed his hair away from his eyes. A few young Gryffindor females in the stairwell leading to the boys dormitories giggled pretentiously at this gesture. Freddie ignored it, like always and leaned against the stairwell railing. "Thought you were a little goody two shoes like half the females of this clan. You certainly seem annoyed enough when I pull my fancy stunts."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- lucy glanced up as her cousin made his way over. her gaze shifted to a bunch of girls as they made their little noises, fawning over her cousin. it was disgusting, really. sure, even she admitted (albeit a little grudgingly) that he was a good looking kid, and the whole bad boy thing must have been a turn on for a lot of girls. but still! they way they fawned over him was just enough to make her want to puke. it really was disgusting. then again, lucy had never been the boy crazy sort. and, in fact, she was a bit of a player. she liked to get boys wrapped around her finger, and, despite the fact that she was fourteen, and most people thought she was too young, it gave her some sense of satisfaction to see the boys oggle. not because she was conceited or anything and liked the attention, but just because it was rather amusing, for some reason. it was actually pretty satisfying.
she glanced up as he spoke. "Didn't really figure you for skulking around the castle after curfew, Lu. Thought you were a little goody two shoes like half the females of this clan. You certainly seem annoyed enough when I pull my fancy stunts." she rolled her eyes. psh. you're a little out of the loop, my love. don't you remember my tagalong days? i followed you everywhere. drove you guys crazy. i learned from the best, right? she grinned slightly as she glanced over at the fire that roared merrily in the hearth, then turned back to her cousin. and it's not that i'm unimpressed. you're fabulous. the best, remember? she teased with a wink. it's just that you're stealing my glory she teased with a slight laugh. indeed the rest of the weasley girls could be a bit goody-two-shoes at times, but lucy had never really been the type. she wasn't sure where exactly along the line freddie had lumped her in with the rest of the weasley population, but he was a bit mistaken. not that she minded. it was a common misconception. it was hard when there were so many of them. people assumed they all must be alike; the boys troublesome, and the girls perfect little model students. pshaw. that was hardly the case, but it amused lucy to shock people, so she didn't mind the bias that some people put in from the rest of her family when they looked at her. and it was even harder with lucy, it seemed, because she had the typical red weasley hair. but she loved it, so it was all good. lucy pretty much loved everything, was the sort who was carefree and without many problems. life was good. what point was there in moping? it was definitely better to be happy, and lucy was actually a pretty happy person. a little spark of sunshine. [/blockquote] TAG; freddie weasley.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IN BETWEEN THE LINES THERE'S A LOT OF OBSCURITY --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'M NOT INCLINED TO RESIGN TO MATURITY Freddie had a smile on his face the moment he remembered the good ol' days. It was true. For whatever reason, he had a tendency to have a swarm of young Weasley cousins following him around over the years. It was fascination, he supposed. Although, one had to admit, crossing the line between naughty and nice at a young age was intriguing. Who was he to tell the youngsters to bugger off or mind their own business? Indeed, he had quite the reputation, even around the family. Crossing his arms in front of him, Freddie's grin turned wide with ego. "Yeah," his voice came out somewhat pompously as he spoke, "Those were some good days. I could just use your cuteness factor to get out of trouble with the aunts...Well, everyone grows up. Don't take it personally, kid." Freddie gave her a playful wink as one of his large hands went for a noogie on the top of her skull.
Despite the title of 'cousins,' Freddie always fancied himself more of a brother figure to Lucy. She, after all, had no male figures in her life. Freddie was a bit doubtful her own father counted as manly figure. His Uncle Percy did act quite feminine at times. That was besides the point. As he vowed to watch over his younger cousins, he had a dilemma. If he looked out for them and kept them from trouble, then he'd never be able to teach them his truant ways about Hogwarts. Moral dilemmas were never a strong suit of Freddie's. In fact, the boy tried to avoid anything having to do with morals all together. They were bothersome, and presented more problems then they fixed, really. With a sigh, he finished off the tart in his hand and proceeded to wipe his fingers on his jeans.
"Don't suppose you brought back any pumpkin juice?" Freddie scanned the table, one eyebrow raised in a scrutinizing way. He was judging her handiwork. Quite the blow to any Weasley in their prime of troublesome ways, but deep down, he really knew it would push Lucy's buttons. She spoke the truth before. Freddie was the master, and he had convinced himself a long time ago that it would be some while before anyone could top his stunts, family included. With a little half-smile smirk on his face, Freddie faced his cousin, "Eh, its all right, I guess. You're still in the learning phases, right?"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- lu rolled her eyes at being informed that everyone grew up. as if i'm not still cute she retorted, ducking away from his hand, pretty sure she knew what he had in mind and that she probably wouldn't like it. she didn't quite make the escape though, and freddie earned a glare for his efforts. she shook her head, wondering suddenly if it had been wise to feed his ego in such a way. She liked making people feel good about themselves, but she was always forgetting that some people really, really didn't need any help. freddie was one of those people. he felt plenty good enough about himself without her help. maybe even a little too good.
she shook her head again when informed that she was still in the learning stage of the game. for one, i don't like pumpkin juice that much, and for another, if you haven't noticed, my hands aren't nearly as big as yours, so it's a little harder to carry as much as you can. if you're that desperate, go get it yourself. not like you couldn't manage. if you're so fantastic she added, sneering out the word fantastic. sure lu was a fun one to tease, but usually she gave it right back, and she didn't always put up with being teased. sometimes she did, sometimes she didn't. there were some people s he really hated being teased by, and there were some days she didn't mind being teased, and then others, it was enough to simply drive her up the wall. today was one of those days, or rather, nights, where she really wasn't in the mood to put up with her cousin's teasing. buzz off. why don't you go entertain your fan club? she snapped, icy blue gaze casting a look toward the group of girls who were still gathered around, whispering to each other and throwing freddie little glances. go grace them with your presence. they'd love to have you around she shook her head. or where's james? why don't you go raise some hell with him? there were a billion and one other things that freddie could be doing at the moment, but NO. he had to sit there and pick on his cousin. typical. [/blockquote] TAG; freddie weasley.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IN BETWEEN THE LINES THERE'S A LOT OF OBSCURITY --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'M NOT INCLINED TO RESIGN TO MATURITY He frowned slightly at his cousin's rather feisty retort. Usually she took his teasing with such great strides, slapping his remarks back in his face with ease and vitality. Tonight seemed to be an off night for everyone though. Rose was a bit more whiny than he could handle, Louis and James were nowhere to be found, Molly was, as usual, unapproachable, and the others were scattered throughout. Freddie was beginning to feel the strain of being the eldest child in the clan still at Hogwarts. Suddenly he was in the midst of cousins becoming more like their fathers, with a sense of maturity he could not understand, nor did he want to. To make matters worse, the females all seemed more vicious as they grew older as well. Freddie was surrounded by hostility on all sides, so it seemed.
"Oh, come on, Lu," His arm snaked around her shoulders as he shot another little wink at the little fan club on the stairs. Then he turned their back to them, and leaned in to his cousin, "I'm just poking fun. You know full well you're my favorite cousin. Why, upsetting you would be like shooting myself in the foot!" He released her from his hold and shoved his hands into his pockets. This evening was not turning out how he had predicted. His usual school night was filled with a bit of pranking here, a few jokes there, maybe a raucous chorus of the Gryffindor theme song his father had cooked up back in his schooling days. All of which was followed up by bribing some poor girl into finishing his homework in return for a few one-on-one study sessions. Freddie's brow furrowed as he though about his nightly ritual, all in realization that he was, in fact, a complete jackass when it came to women.
Surely they had all learned by now that his intentions were less then stellar. The only women that had ever held his attentions for longer than a day were Ana Wood and Daisy. They were too good for him really. He knew it, and sadly hoped they hadn't figured it out yet. What would he do without those two to set him straight. A good scolding was expected from Lu or Rose, Victoire, Dominique or Roxanna, even Molly at times. Certainly he knew to expect them on a routine basis from his mother, aunts and Grandmother Weasley, but all of those rounded on the same general basis. "Grow up," or "That's so immature, Freddie!" had graced his ears hundreds of times. Once he even got a "Even your father would be disappointed!" which had surprised him as it had come from his own father at the time. All these remarks only went in one ear and out the other for Freddie. But when they came from Daisy or Ana...somehow they stuck in his brain, rattled about for a bit and then took hold. It was almost as if he were...nah, married would be too simple a term for it. Collared was much more appropriate.
The look on his face had turned into horror at his realization. He had become increasingly aware of his own taming, and quite frankly, it scared him beyond belief. Frozen to the spot where he stood, Freddie looked at Lucy, a completely terrified look flooding his features as his thoughts released their hold and brought him back to reality. "Dear Merlin's pants... Lucy, I need to cause some real damage and soon. I hate to admit this, but I think I'm losing my touch. I've been at school over a week and haven't done one prank." A hand went up and loosened the nonexistent necktie around his neck. His miming actions went on to display the pulling of a nonexistent shirt collar.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- lu shook her head when he basically told her to loosen up. it hit her rather suddenly that she was being a bit of a bitch. she frowned. she was pretty sure she knew what it was. stupid PMS. it definitely sucked. the whole thing was such a pain. she smiled a little sheepishly when he said he was just teasing. "i know" she mumbled. "don't mind me she said with a slight laugh. "i'm being a bitch." that was one thing about lu, for all her temper and cheekyness. she hated apologizing, but she wasn't usually too bad about admitting when she was wrong, especially with certain people. of course, there were those folks who were so uppity that it was really hard admitting when one was wrong, but around people she knew, like fred, she usually didn't have a problem admitting when she was being dumb, or bitchy, or whatever the case was, and she was super blunt. you could almost always count on lu to tell it exactly how it was. she didn't eat around the bush or try and soften the blow. it had never really been her style. why waste her breath on extra words?
she watched the spectacularly terrified look come across his handsome features, waiting patiently. she knew he'd probably tell her what was bothering him in a minute, and while she waited the scant few seconds for him to enlighten her, she found her mind wandering slightly. she wasn't sure exactly how she'd gotten promoted to "favorite cousin" status. she was pretty sure she used to annoy the hell out of him. when had she gotten easier to be around? inwardly she smiled. from tag-a-long to favorite. she glanced at him. " actually i don't know, because i know that's a lie. that i'm your favorite cousin. james is" she said, sticking her tongue out at him with a grin. she knew it was true. the two of them were practically inseperable. they went together like, peanut butter and jelly or something. in fact, she was rather surprised that she didn't see james around somewhere. she jerked her gaze to him, aghast. " the master hasn't done anything yet?" she shook her head in mock disappointment. " gee fred, you are losing your touch" she said. " i'd say you we definitely need to go raise a little hell" she said with a wise nod, getting to her feet. " lead on, oh master. let us find some trouble" she said, making a very overdone and sarcastic bow, if ever a bow could be considered sarcastic. if it could, lu was certainly the one to pull it off. [/blockquote] TAG; freddie weasley.

Freddie grinned and gave his little cousin a nudge with his elbow"It's the old age, Lu," he told her with a slight chuckle, "I think I'm actually maturing. Isn't that a scary thought?" Freddie hated anything having to do with adulthood. In a way he was a modern day Peter Pan type. Never wanting to grow up, and certainly not wanting any responsibility. They were qualities his Grandmum complained about on a consistent basis. He was proud of his actions though, and that was probably the most dangerous part about Frederick Weasley. Someone who didn't care about the consequences of his actions was often times a wildcard in and of itself.
Snapping back into consciousness, he looked around the room deciding his next move. There were tons of thoughts racing through his mind. School-wide prank? Or just a localized one? It was near medical the way Freddie executed his displays for attention. There was precision in each move, and every process was delicate to the touch. If just one part went the slightest bit off, the entire prank would collapse like a row of dominoes. He had spent years mastering this gift of his, spent whole summers contemplating new ideas and drawing up plans. He had even gone so far as to nick a few items from his father's jokeshop to suffice his plans for the future. Freddie would make his mark on the world, but it would most likely end him up in Azkaban for a few months of rehabilitation. He'd already been interrogated by officers from the Misuse of Magic department. The thing about Freddie was, as impulsive as he was with his joking around, he had also mastered the art of lying, and quite skillfully so.
Hi expression changed as if an imaginary light bulb had lit up above his head. His grin grew wider and more wicked like a little magical Grinch, as he held up his index finger, indicating for his cousin to wait for him. Freddie turned and took the stairs leading up to the boy's dormitories two at a time. He nearly knocked over the young flirtatious group of first and second years that had been giggling about him earlier. Flinging the door open to his room, he lunged at his trunk and dug around for several moments until he found the small box he'd been looking for. There were Russian letters around the small pine box, and Freddie grinned as he opened the sliding lid. The beautiful array of Romanian fireworks had been a gift from his Uncle Charlie on Christmas. His mother, most cautious of her son's way of thinking, had confiscated them until Freddie had finished his seventh year at Hogwarts and would be out of the house. "When you live on your own, feel free to blow up whatever part of your body you like!" she had told him after the family had returned home from the Christmas dinner at the Burrow. Sadly, his mum was a poor judge of hiding places and Freddie had obtained them quite easily the day before the train ride.
Stuffing the box into one of his muggle looking backpacks, Freddie raced back downstairs. Instead of bypassing the now surly looking group of young girls, Freddie grabbed the iron railing in both hands and leaped over it in one swift motion. Landing in a semi-squat on the main floor of the common room, he ignored the surprised looks and went back to Lucy. "You want to cause a bit of commotion tonight, Miss Weasley? You can also enjoy the pretty colors too." His tone was almost taunting as he opened the flap of his bag to reveal the box of fireworks. Even if Lucy didn't want to join him, Freddie was going to enjoy the big bangs and pops of the raucous fireworks, and maybe add in a few of his own from the tip of his wand. .

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- she couldn't help laugh slightly when fred told her it was the old age. "yeah, cuz you're just so old fred" she teased him lightly, her voice dripping with friendly sarcasm. she gave him a gentle shove in return for his nudge of the elbow. lu couldn't help but laugh when he asked about it being a scary thought. "definitely" she said with a slight snort. it wasn't, actually. well, not scary, exactly. more like impossible. well, the idea was actually sort of scary, maybe. mostly because it was a change that seemed impossible and when something that seemed stable changed it was always scary. lu tended to deal pretty well with changes. unless they were ones she really truly didn't expect. like freddie getting mature. it was impossible, something that would really rather shake her, just because it was completely and entirely unexpected, something that was changing that before had seemed entireely constant, unchangeable.
she smiled when she saw the look on her cousin's face. she knew the look. it was the look of his brilliant genius taking effect, it was the look he got when he got a simply fantastic idea. she had tagged along on more than enough pranks to know how he worked, how he operated, what each little smirk and gesture meant. she felt a grin slowly spreading across her face, answering his own smirk. she loved when her cousin got brilliant ideas. he truly was the master of pranks. she knew she'd never be as good as him. there were very few people who's minds worked in the way that freddie's did, who could come up with that sort of brilliant plan, and hers was not one of those minds, for all the mischief managed to cause. still, a girl could dream, right? and it was always simply amazing to get to tag along with freddie on one of his pranks, especially when he had that particular look on his face. it was usually a brilliant idea. the grin stayed in place as she waited for freddie to return and the moment she saw him coming down the stairs she was on her feet. she stared at the box and the grin seemed to widen when he asked if she wanted to cause a commotion. hell yeah she said laughingly. what's the game plan? she asked, speaking softly as they stepped through the portrait of the fat lady. she knew they needed to be quiet now, or probably risk getting caught. and she really didn'tw ant to screw up freddie's first prank of the new school year. and in truth, she was a little bit honored to be in on his first prank of the season. she glanced at him with a rather mischievious gleam in her bright blue eyes.
