Below is the list of positions on the school newspaper, THE SQUID. In order to become a staff member, you must fill out the code given below and post it in a reply to this thread. Anyone who gets on the staff will be expected to actually participate in writing articles and doing staff meetings, etc. That being said, whoever becomes the adult sponsor and the paper's editor will be in charge of making sure that the paper is, actually, running like a newspaper. I know, I know this is an rp and you are more than welcome to use a position you may have on the paper's staff in your plots. But please be aware that this is to actually be used as a source of school news, not just for a fancy title in your profile. This, of course, is going to take some time and organization beyond regular roleplaying, so if you don't have it to give then please don't apply for a position. In regards to the positions, you may only hold one column at time. This means, that you may be assistant editor as well as the fashion columnist, or the sports writer and a photographer, etc. The adult sponsor may not hold any other position on the staff, they are there simply to make sure the students aren't misbehaving.

NEWSPAPER GUIDELINES below are a few rules and procedures that will apply to the school news paper and the articles written for it.
[/B] -- THE SQUID will work as a bi-monthly newspaper. This means, that every two weeks, starting when all of the major staff positions are filled up, new articles will be posted. In order to do this, writers must submit their articles to the editor on the weeks alternating between the weeks that they are posted. I.E. if you submit your article to the editor this friday, it will be posted next friday, then you will submit your new one the friday after that, and so on. POSTING ARTICLES -- to get your article posted, you must use the article template given, submit it to the editor by the deadline, who will then edit and make any corrections and/or ask for a revision etc. After the article has been approved completely, it will be given to member of the site staff to post on the appropriate date. MATERIAL -- you may use anything you find IN CHARACTER on the school boards as it relates to your article subject. If the thread was meant to be a secret meeting you would not know about it or if it had to do with someone picking flowers while your article is about sporting events -- you would obviously not write about that. Use common sense. Every article MUST be in character. The length requirement is between 250 and 500 words. We don't need anything novel-length. Unless you have extreme muse for it and relevant material to discuss, try to keep it below 600. CONSEQUENCES -- unfortunately, if you fail to follow the guidelines given above or do the appropriate amount of work you will be removed from the staff. You will, of course, receive warnings but not an excessive amount so make sure you pay them heed if you get one. [/b] Pixel character name: Gabe Stafford reasons why: " Well, I love writing and English, so I'm pretty good that way, I guess. I'm also pretty much a nut case about grammar and spelling, so everything should be pretty grammatically correct and spelled correctly." how active are you?: I'm on basically at least once a day. position(s) applying for: Sports and/or photographer he could do photography until you get the spot filled if you like, but he'd prefer Sports. sample article: Well, the new Quidditch season is just around the corner! The house teams are already beginning to practice and that competitive tensity is in the air. Already the captains are working at getting their teams ready. With the people we have playing this year, it's bound to be a highly competitive season. Maybe I should start with Hufflepuff. This team is a knockout. With a beater like Captain Brigham Striker, they're bound to have a pretty good season. The other Beater position is still up for grabs, but I'm sure that Brig will have the team well rounded out by the time the first game comes around. Finishing out the team at the moment (though not all positions are filled) are Cayden Skyler at keeper, and I have to say, this girl is a whirlwind. Grace Holland fills out the seeking position, and again, this girl is a spitfire. Completing the team is Cambria LaRue, as the only chaser, although with the way this girl flies around, she could practically keep the Quaffle under control on her own. The Ravenclaw team is headed by Seeker, Daisy Carmichael. This girl is quite the lioness. She'll keep this team in tip top shape, I have no doubt. Their Keeper is Gage Russo. This girl is fantastic at her position. The opponent Chasers will have a hard time getting the Quaffle past her. Adrian Atwood is the only Beater, at the moment. This kid might be a tooth pick, but I wouldn't underestimate him. He can get those Bludgers going with a crazy amount of force. Be sure to keep your eye on this one. Gabriel Thierot leads the Slytherin team, and the way that boy holds onto the Quaffle, he must have that Muggle stuff Velcro on his fingers. Alix Jesslow plays Chaser, and this girl is like a rocket handling that Quaffle. Cassian Zabini is their Keeper, and this kid has the eyes of a hawk. He knows exactly what's going down on the field at any given moment. The Slytherin team still has a lot of slots to fill. Who's going to pick them up? Guess we'll have to wait and see. Completing the teams for this season is Gryffindor. Now surprisingly, Gryffindor still doesn't have a captain. One would have expected this to be one of the first slots filled, right? Who's going to step up to the plate on this one? Lucy Weasley is quite the little spitfire as Keeper, and not much gets by her, but she's only a 4th year. She would have a hard time keeping things under control, especially with her trouble making cousin, Freddie Weasley on the team. This seventh year fills the Beating position, and he's popular enough to keep the team under control. Seventh year Chaser, Kiernan Robinson is also a possibility. From what I hear, the boy's pretty diplomatic, though maybe a little quiet to lead the rowdy Gryffindor team? Rose Weasley fills out the other Chaser position, but again, she's only a fifth year. Who's going to step up to the plate and lead the Gryffindor team? And while Gryffindor is the only house who's team doesn't have a captain, they are also the only one to have a mascot. Connor Wood fills out this position, and I must say, he's probably going to be pretty good at it. The boy knows how to get people laughing or fighting mad, which will both probably be handy skills as the mascot. Well, these are the team standings for the moment, folks, but we've still got positions to fill. Who is going to finish out the House teams? Stay tuned. [/size][/ul]
