I wish that life wasn't always ending up this way A LIFE FOR YOU'S WORTH LOSING YOU FOREVER As the changing of the seasons prepare me again -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gage removed her hands from the dirt and sat back against one of the large turrets responsible for supporting the stands around the pitch. She was quite pleased with herself. At the start of term, her father had made her promise to at least try and behave. Gage had obliged only so much as to give him a nod, a quick kiss goodbye and then boarded the train for school. Four words exchanged between the two of them was, sadly, the extent of their conversations. Gage was used to this, since she was a little girl her father never really spoke to her. She had always assumed it was a normal relationship until she'd gone off to Hogwarts. There she had learned of normal family relationships, and grew a resentment towards her father and siblings. It was just one more tally in the unconventional and crazy chart Gage kept on her life. Today she had found it difficult to keep her mind on her studies, despite how early it was in the semester. Usually she lasted until November before her laziness overcame her and she was forced to cause some sort of trouble. It was an odd feeling, this restlessness. She didn't like it one bit. Kicking her feet out in front of her, Gage leaned back against the cold wooden stands and let her dirt stained hands rest delicately in her lap. Her jeans were already stained from her afternoon of digging, so she really didn't care what she sat on, or what residue her hands may leave behind. Instead, she shook her loose waved curls from her face and squinted across the pitch in the sunlight. As much as she felt trapped in this castle prison, she had to admit, it was gorgeous. A real masterpiece the founding fathers had put together really. Gage felt a pang of guilt that she treated the grounds like her own personal playground. Yet, guilt was a fleeting emotion with a girl like Gage. Just as quick as it presented itself, it was gone. Leaning her head back, Gage closed her eyes, trying to forget the uneasiness she felt around her. It had started with meeting Gideon on the train, and never really went away. In fact, she was sure it had gotten worse every time she thought about the train. Thoughts of the train led to thoughts of her father, which made some sort of primal panic arise in her chest. She could feel it coming on now, as her breaths became more erratic. Just the mere thought of her father grew an anger deep within her that surprised even Gage. It was an off balanced relationship between the two of them, something that couldn't be fixed even if either of them wanted to. Balling her fists up in her lap, Gage tried desperately to calm herself from within.[/blockquote][/ul] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ! finished! “GAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE!”
Connor practically hung out of the window, waving both arms over his head wildly in an attempt to capture the girl’s attention. “Yoooohoooo, over here?!” He snapped his fingers, banged on the glass, and even stopped to throw his sneaker. He didn’t throw it at her, of course, simply near where her body lay. “GAGE!” His voice was nearly going hoarse with the effort until he finally gave up and retreated back inside. That was obviously not working. She was off in her own little world and he was going to have to go down there to get her attention. Plus, his foot was cold now and he wanted his shoe back.
The boy limped quickly through the halls, ignoring the students he passed and the looks they gave him. It wasn’t every day when they caught someone without one shoe, speeding down the hall as if the hells of fire were licking at his heel. But Gage was outside and he wanted to talk to her, as they hadn’t spoken in quite a while and it would be nice simply to catch up with an old… friend? Yeah, they were friends now, he would imagine. He and Gage had attempted something closer but it hadn’t felt right; there was something missing. Or, things were being left unspoken and he had chickened out, using that as an excuse not to be with her. Connor was stupid, he knew this.
The guy in question burst through the front doors of the castle and all but tripped down the stairs in his haste. He paused at the last step, eyeballing the grass. It was going to ruin his sock, damn. Eventually, he took the time to squat and remove his sock as well, leaving one foot completely bare and the sock dangling from his hand. “GAGE!” He called now, catching sight of her as she leaned back – he assumed to enjoy what little sun was being offered. Connor rushed over, ignoring how the grass felt soggy between his toes before finally plopping down next to her. “There’s my shoe!” His cry of discovery was simply to get her attention fixated onto him as he scooped up the sneaker.
As Connor began to slip the sock and shoe back onto his foot, his gaze continued to graze over Gage and how quiet she seemed. “So how have you been lately?” He finally asked, trying to convey a lot of excitement and enthusiasm. He wasn’t used to seeing her look so melancholy. He didn’t like it one bit, so he sought to make that change. “Did you know I was calling you for at least five minutes?” He told her and shot an arm out, pointing towards the open window two stories up. “Right there. I felt like Rapunsel without the hair,” he teased her, his familiar grin passing over his features. He nudged her playfully, hoping to coax a similar smile from her.

I wish that life wasn't always ending up this way A LIFE FOR YOU'S WORTH LOSING YOU FOREVER As the changing of the seasons prepare me again -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A smirk crept across her face, the first one of the day really. So many jokes were cropping up in her head as she looked from Connor's face up to the window he was pointing at. Too many, really. "Nah, it's too easy to poke fun at that. Come on, sit down." Gage padded the ground beside her with her dirt stained hand as she lowered herself to lay back down on the ground. She felt herself lucky to have a friend like Connor. She felt so comfortable around him, to the point she felt she could share anything and not be judged for it. Turning her head to look at him slightly, Gage pursed her lips as if deep in thought. "Why were you calling me, Con? From the tower window no less? You have my phone number still, don't you?" She gave his shoulder a little nudge as she turned to look back up at the sky. The clouds were passing by at a more rapid speed now, making shapes drift in and out of recognizable obiects and pictures. For whatever reason, Gage found this a peaceful sight, and even more so now that her friend was near. Connor’s face fell dramatically. “Poke fun at?” One large hand moved up to splay across his heart and he sighed, the sound loud in the space between them. “You… would make fun of your dear, dear friend Connor Wood?” He wet his lips and stared into his lap, once more his shoulders heaving with an exhale of breath. “I am… utterly shocked. I’m speechless. You continue to surprise me with how evil you truly are,” he told Gage, though there was a twinkle in his eye as she scooted close to her, effectively discouraging any others from interrupting the two. “Sometimes, I have to wonder if you’re not a Slytherin at heart… And you hide behind books as some sort of alluring ruse.” His finger tapped lightly upon his knee as he considered her, wondering if she would take any of this seriously or not. Gage was the only person who ever made Connor question himself and consciously think of when too far was too much.
At her question, he paused – that was a very good question. “I don’t get service here?” He did not sound completely convinced himself, however Connor did not want to admit the thought had never occurred to him. Besides, he rarely ever used the muggle device and while on Hogwarts, it rarely worked too well anyways, if at all. “Besides, I wanted to relay to you just how important my getting your attention was,” he continued, now settling back into an easy element of explanation. He smiled at her like how he used to, lips pulled up just at the corners as she nudged him. Connor shoved her back, a little more roughly than she had just because he knew it would possibly annoy her. Maybe he would get to have her crawl on him before long, but he would not hold out hope. Sometimes Gage was not in the best of spirits, and today it appeared she might be more scornful than accepting.
Deciding that he did not like his friend being so quiet and anti-social, Connor thought to take the matter of cheering her up personally. Suddenly, he flung his body over her until his head rested quite nicely in her lap and stared up at her, a wounded expression touching his charming features. “Gage,” he whined lightly, “my tummy hurts.” Here the boy patted his stomach and rubbed it through his shirt, as if this would make the girl immediately turn mother to him. “Will you rub it for me? Might make it feel better.” Yes, he knew perfectly well he was behaving no better than a dog – but hey, if it got the girl’s features to light up in the playful way he knew they could, it was well worth it. Connor whimpered for some affect, looking fairly pathetic as he laid there.
