---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- lucy weasley sat at one of the library tables. she was bent over her transfiguration homework, currently, rather to her excitement. she'd actually been looking forward to her transfiguration, thus the reason she had saved it for last. it was always easier to do the rest of your work if you had something that you liked to look forward to. some people called miss lucy crazy for loving transfiguration as much as she did. she was a complete nutcase over it. but then again, it was also the only class she was really, really good in. of course, she got by in her other classes, got good grades and everything, but they weren't as much of a breeze as transfiguration, and yet a challenge at the same time. she was never entirely sure what to expect in that class, but it was always something she liked doing, and that she was good at, although that wasn't to say that she got it right on the first try. oh no. in fact it usually took her several. still, it was hands down her favorite class.
and so one would find lucy on this fine afternoon, pouring over her transfiguration book and scribbling furiously. for all she liked transfiguration, she was still eager to have it done with. it left her weekend open for playing and quidditch and just general mischief, and it was common knowledge just how much lucy weasley liked mischief. she didn't even just like it, she loved it. she loved danger and trouble and...trouble. it was just great! the consequences usually sucked (she hated detention) but making the trouble was fun. so she usually found herself trying to figure out ways to get out of trouble. this was usually much less successful than getting in to trouble, though, much to lu's disgust. she seemed to have really bad luck with the whole discipline thing. she hadn't quite mastered the art of not getting caught just yet. she tucked her quill behind her ear, in much the same way many muggles tucked pencils behind their ears, and leaned back to examine her work. she eyed the piece of parchment, wondering if it was long enough. it didn't really look like it. and usually she was pretty good at guestimating. if she thought something was too short, it generally was. and the same went if it was too long. Though teachers generally preferred too long to too short. Definitely better to be on the long side, she thought to herself, and pulled her quill from her ear and started scribbling all over again, a slight frown of concentration on her face, her lips curled over her teeth, the epitome of the good student. [/blockquote] TAG; connor wood

(It's just you and me dancing in this dream)"whatever you do, don't wake me up" - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Connor walked through the hallways still licking the grease from his fingers. That was an awfully good lunch he had just partook of and he was loathe to let it go just yet. As soon as he decided his fingers had been sucked clean, the boy then wiped his hands off on his jeans and grinned at those he passed. “Hiya, hello, how are ya?” This sequence was repeated several times with the occasional tilt of his head in recognition. Connor would have stopped to speak with a few of them more thoroughly, however he was on a particular mission to find another soul just then. He didn’t wish to get sidetracked, which happened all too easily for him. No, he wanted to see Lucy Weasley since she hadn’t been at the Gryffindor table to tease him as was normal. He’d be lying if he wasn’t curious as to her absence.
He made it no secret to those students walking past who exactly he wanted just then. “Have you seen Lucy?” he asked several people, pausing briefly as they either answered in the negative or gave brief descriptions of where they’d seen her earlier that day. Finally, he accosted a short Ravenclaw girl attempting to squeeze past him in the hall with her books cradled to her chest. She gave him vital information on the missing Weasley’s whereabouts, mentioning how she had just come from the library and might’ve seen the girl there. Connor let the Ravenclaw go after this, figuring that had to be reliable since Lucy was kind of straight-edge when it came to grades. He’d have to break her of that, honestly. She had to see there was much more to life then books and essays.
The tall Gryffindor swept down the hallway purposefully, now. He swerved around a few corners, heading for the one place he typically avoided like the plague. Studies were not his thing, really. Connor was more interested in having a spot of fun, since life was short and all. At last, he came across the old stuffy room and approached it cautiously, as if he thought the librarian would pop out and whack him with a book for even think of showing his face in there. Connor stood by the door for a second, eyes scanning the few geeks loitering about until he spotted the familiar shock of red hair and smiled. Figures, he thought with some humor. Lucy Weasley was huddled at her own table, furiously scratching at some parchment. He started over there immediately.
“Ah, so serious kiddo!” Connor slid easily into an empty seat without invitation, referring to the girl’s slight frown of concentration. He was still for all of two seconds before leaning over and strategically wrestling the paper from under her quill. “Whatcha writing?” He asked in a tone he knew would bother her as he held the paper close to his face and squinted to see the small writing. “Transfiguration!” Connor exclaimed, mock disbelief in his tone as he now regarded his fellow Gryffindor, holding the piece of parchment well from her reach. “How can you possibly want to stay indoors on a day like this? We should be out enjoying the air, wrestling or playing Quidditch… Not choking on the dust from these books.” Connor then began to exaggerate a cough and flung himself back in the chair. “So what say you, my friend? Let’s get outta this place.”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- lucy didn't even bother to spare the boy a glance as he slid into the seat across from her without being invited. she was already pretty sure she knew who it was. yes, there he was, already talking. definitely Connor. “ah, so serious kiddo!” she rolled her eyes as she continued on with her writing. "hey!" she exclaimed as he snatched her parchment from her, receiving a dirty look from the librarian for speaking so loudly. she glared right back at the uppity old woman and turned her attention back to connor, who was, of course, speaking again. “how can you possibly want to stay indoors on a day like this? we should be out enjoying the air, wrestling or playing quidditch… not choking on the dust from these books. so what say you, my friend? Let’s get outta this place.”
lucy narrowed her eyes at him, her fingers drumming impatiently on the table. of course i'd rather be outside she retorted in a tone that said quite clearly, "you dolt," despite the fact that she didn't say the words out loud. and she went on, making her voice sweet and smooth and tempting. i'm almost done. so if you give it back and let me finish it really quick, we can go do whatever it was that you had in mind for getting into trouble...since you're usually the one who gets me into trouble" she rolled her eyes but she was smiling slightly as she settled back in her chair, ready to wait him out. plus this way i have the rest of the weekend free to do whatever we want she added with a firm nod. lucy knew very well how these games went. if they didn't get a rise out of you, it got boring and they quit. lucy knew from her own experience as the occasional tormentor. because she was, actually, nearly as bad as connor when it came to getting into people's way. well, perhaps not getting into people's way, per se, but causing trouble in general, which was often to the annoyance of her fellow peers. she shook her head slightly as she folded her arms across her chest and stared across the table at connor, waiting for him to either give up or start rambling on again, and figuring the rambling was much more likely to happen in the near future. inwardly, she laughed slightly. boy tended to be so predictable. that wasn't to say they always were. just sometimes. [/blockquote] TAG; connor wood

(It's just you and me dancing in this dream)"whatever you do, don't wake me up" - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Connor smirked as she attempted to ignore him – that was funny, to watch her face screwed up with the concentration to not acknowledge his presence. Made her very cute, in fact; adorable even. But she had no choice but to speak with him, as he now had her paper and waved it before her in a taunting fashion. “Oh-ho-o!” He breathed, catching her glare at the librarian. Connor leaned in as if he were about to impart some great wisdom on his young friend, however his level of tone was quite loud in the stillness of everything. “You might upset the librarian, you know, if you keep that sourpuss look on her face.” He then sat back once again, thoroughly proud of himself that he might have embarrassed the cheeky girl with his abrasive behavior.
One brow slid up his face in an arrogant fashion at her claim. “I disagree,” he started immediately, head shaking and taking a deep breath of air since he planned a fairly lengthy tirade about what, exactly, he meant. “If you wished to be outside, you would be. No ifs, ands, or buts about it! But clearly,” here his fingers wrinkled the page in her direction, “there is some inner Ravenclaw in you drowning out your lioness and I find it sad to witness! It is unnatural for a Gryffindor to be so responsible,” he chided. Of course, Connor was merely joking and most of what he mentioned was there only to rankle her further. And perhaps to guilt her into his way of thinking.
Connor placed one large hand over his heart and gasped at her. “ME?! I get you into trouble? Nonsense! I am the perfect picture of gentlemanly valor if there ever was one. They’ll probably make me head boy next year and you won’t get away with your negative influence on pupils,” he boasted and then sniffed; his chest may have even ballooned up with a little of his pompousness. When she mentioned if he gave her the chance to finish they would have the weekend to do whatever they wanted, Connor grinned inwardly. She had no idea what he would prefer to do, but she was probably too young to think about like that.
“Fine,” he grumbled, knowing if he didn’t let her finish, they would not get out of the library. He put the page on the table and slid it across to her. Then, the boy plopped back and crossed his arms, staring mutinously at the pretty little redhead. “Hurry up now, I could be doing better things,” he whined. But really, he had nothing else he wanted to do.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- the girl couldn't help but roll her eyes as he went on, about annoying the librarian (who gave them another dirty look and received an eye roll from Lucy for her pains) and then about valor and being head boy, which got a snort out of lucy while she waited, knowing he'd wind down eventually. finally he shoved the parchment back at her, sniffing, giving her a glare, and telling her to hurry up because he had better things to do. "if you actually had things to do, connor, you wouldn't be here right now. you just love me too much. can't hardly stand to have me out of your sight" she teased easily, dipping her quill into her ink bottle and bending over the parchment again.
lucy was hardly what one could call an over achiever, but she did have her moments. mostly because she felt horribly guilty if she didn't get things done, so she did them as fast as possible, with as little effort as possible, so that at least she could say she had it done. better for the teachers to think her stupid than irresponsible, although they knew she wasn't stupid. in fact, they knew she was a bit of a genius, deep down. only a genius could come up with some of the things that lucy had to get herself into trouble. she smirked a little at her memory, then dragged herself back to the piece of parchment. just a few more lines, she thought miserably to herself. connor's offer to go do something was nearly impossible to resist, but she hated having homework hanging over her head, so she was determined she would get this finished before they went off to find trouble to get into. she frowned down at the parchment, nibbling on her lip slightly, as she always did when she was focusing particularly hard on something, and finally smacked a large period at the end of her last sentence. The force of it nearly tore her parchment and it left a larger than normal period at the end of the line, but she didn't care. in a self satisfied sort of way, a little like a cat, she put the cap on her ink bottle, rolled up the parchment, and began slipping everything back into her bag, handling her transfiguration book in with more care than most would have given it. indeed, all her transfiguration textbooks were practically as good as new. it was hard to believe that she had ever even cracked into them, let alone used them almost all the time. her gaze shifted up to connor. " alright my friend, what mischief did you have planned?" she asked, leaning forward and folding her arms over the table, giving him a devious little smile that some might have called flirting. and so what if she was? she thought to herself, a little guiltily. she was a player at heart, and she had found it a little hard not to play the poor boy, but loyalty and friendship had won you. it might have been better to play him, though, she thought to herself, the devious little smirk still playing across her features, not a word of her thoughts readable on her face. then maybe she wouldn't feel the way she did... [/blockquote] TAG; connor wood

Connor’s face stretched into his familiar grin as he appraised his friend. “Has anyone ever told you, Luc, that you’re a cheeky girl? A cocky one too,” he added, smirking as she assumed his reasons for being there. She was correct, sure, but there was no need to elevate her ego any more than it was in regards to him. “But,” he sighed something haggard, as if the weight of the world had fallen on him to admit this, “I suppose you’re right. I would probably stake out under your bed if the chance ever arose.” Here, his eyes brightened with the concept. “You know, that would be fun! Almost like a sleepover, you know? Cept I would be on the floor…” Connor stroked his chin thoughtfully, watching Lucy as she tried to concentrate again on the work he was distracting her from. “Though, I’m sure you’d let me weasel my way under the covers eventually… Even you wouldn’t be so heartless as to leave a shivering man to the floorboards.”
The boy finally quieted down, knowing if he did not let her get through this work he would die of boredom. Besides, how could he visit with Lucy while she was trying to write? His gaze strayed from her as she thought, focusing in on the many rows of books. Connor’s lips curled in slight disgust and he shivered, disbelieving the fact he had come all the way to the library to rescue a friend. He could practically feel the dust settling on him as he sat in the chair – the Gryffindor brushed invisible lint from his shirt, paranoid that this place was going to rub off on him in some way. He faced the table again, leaning on it as his fingers began to drum rhythmically against its surface, this sound loud in the utter silence of this morgue. Connor wanted to hum a light tune, but he didn’t risk it – Lucy appeared to be nearly finished, as she was biting her lips.
At last, he saw her smack a period and Connor nearly leapt from his chair at the climax of it all. “Finished?” He asked rather obviously as she put everything away and finally faced him. “Great!” He didn’t even wait for her to agree or correct him, but instead got to his feet, far too excited to settle back into that chair. “How about we go for a walk and see what comes to us, eh?” He suggested. Connor just wanted to get out of there, so he was not really thinking specifics yet. “Come on, let’s go,” he urged impatiently. He then reached over and grabbed her hand, curling his around it and yanked on her limb – not roughly, but enough so that she would know he’d die before relinquishing his hold, or allowing her to remain in this stuffy place for another second. He would sneeze any second, he was sure of it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- she couldn't help snorting with laughter as he spoke about camping out under her bed. her quill almost skidded across her page and left a huge mark, but she caught herself before any major damage could be done. good thing, too. she would have hated to have to rewrite the whole damn thing. "dream on, love, dream on" she said with a laugh, keeping everything in jest despite the heat she could feel rushing to her face. was it really really awful that the whole idea sounded rather appealing? though sort of creepy, too. hm, it wasn't often that luce was caught in limbo. usually she was definite, either on one side or the other, but she wasn't sure about that one. she usually had definite opinions about anything and everything.
she grinned slightly when he jumped out of his chair, nearly knocking the thing over, it looked like from where she sat. she shook her head as he grabbed her hand, nearly dragging her from her chair. she planted her feet, not allowing him to get her up for a moment, just because she knew it would bother him. finally she rose, leaning over to grab her bag and swing the thing over her shoulder. she laughed as connor nearly dragged her off her feet in his hurry to get her out of the library. he was such a funny kid sometimes. it made him rather endearing. he was always up for anything and everything, and he usually had a smile for everyone. he was like a little spot of sunshine or something. he just had that way about him. of course, she supposed he had his enemies, but lu wasn't quite sure how you could possibly manage to not like connor. as far as she was concerned, he was quite the lovable character. funny and extroverted, the sort who hated being serious. the one she went to when she wasn't ready to talk something about something stressful and just wanted to get away from the feeling of having something hanging over her head. he was always good for a laugh, no matter how crappy she felt. she couldn't really help glancing down at their intertwined hands. subtly, of course, it wasn't like she just stared. that had never been her style. but still, she couldn't help rather reveling in the contact. and what was that tingly sensation? oh wait. maybe he was just squeezing her hand too hard. still, it had to be abnormal that she got the tinglies anytime their hands brushed, right? ugh. stupid crushes. she hated crushes. what happened to the innocent days when there was basically no difference between boys and girls, and everyone could just be the best of friends without all these weird emotions and sensations? what happened to that?! why did everyone have to grow up? it definitely sucked.
