CAYDEN to CAMBRIA
Her inner awkward moment as they walked. Cayden actually laughed as a memory of a melting cauldron instantly flashed through her mind. It had been a mess, bubbling purple goo everywhere and a very upset potions professor. “Duh,” she retorted after a low giggle. “My favorite pair of Chucks got destroyed in that mess, remember? They still got splotches and scorch marks. I swear my mum thought I’d been sent away to school with Satan after she saw them.. She threatened not to let me go back if that’s what happened every time we had class. “ Yeah, they’d had a good time in their first year. Now that she looked back on it. But it hadn’t seemed so at the time, that year had been trying and difficult -- at least in her eleven-year-old eyes. Yeah, it had been a good time, looking back on it, but she certainly didn’t envy the new crop of first years. Then again, most of them were probably of half a mind to skedaddle before actually having to get on the train. Cayden herself, who’d been an adventurous child since birth, had even had second thoughts back then looking up at the billowing smoke and watching all the strange people around her. That hadn’t stopped her though and she was pretty sure that no matter what these new kids were feeling, it wasn’t going to stop them either.
Separating her arm from Cambria’s, Cayden pulled her hair into a messy bun on the top of her head. It was abnormally warm in the train station, sweat was already starting to pull at the nape of her neck. Curly tendrils escaped her bun and curled around her face and neck. She hated it when her hair was all curly and frizzy like that but she was hot and, in this case, comfort won over style. Who was there to see her anyway? With an amused style, she listened as her friend told of her trials over the summer. To be honest, she wasn’t all that surprised at what she heard, really. It was just like Cambria and he brother Rian to pull such antics. In face, Cayden was rather surprised the story her friend was telling wasn’t even more crazy than it already was. After all, the two LaRue siblings had a reputation to live up to. Not that Cayden was going to say this to her friend. As much as she loved being apart of their mischief, they were pretty insane as it is and she certainly didn’t want to be the one who pushed them over the limits that the school would take. She loved her friends and couldn’t imagine being at Hogwarts without them.
Which is, of course, when she remembered that Rian, at least, wouldn’t be there. This being his last year. And she and Cambria were now fifth years. It was hard stuff to imagine, thinking about the future. Would they still be friends after school? How would their relationship change? Would they even be in the same country? Bah. What was up with her today? All the mellow, depressing crap was so out of character for her. She needed to shake the slumpish feeling she had and quick. She wasn’t going to let Him win, was not going to let Him ruin everything for her this year. He wasn’t worth it, not the tiniest bit. “Oooh, plotting,” Cayden said, wiggling her eyebrows and lowering her voice. “What sinister plans have you made so far? You must tell me before I die of curiosity, or old, or the train wrecking, or the killing curse, or--” she broke off, laughing. “Sorry, it’s the sugar. Really, growing minds ought not have it so early in the day. It can’t be healthy. And don’t worry about the letter thing. The step-monster didn’t like me having pets in the house after I got back from visiting my mum.” She rolled her eyes dramtically and then sighed. “My summer sucked, in case you were wondering. Totally boring. I somehow ended up missing school it was that uneventful.” That last part, of course, was a lie. And Cayden, for all her faults, was a terrible liar.

GIDEON to GAGE
Gideon watched as she set his cat down on the compartment seat. Aramis, being the contrary creature that he was, curled up in the far corner -- his pink nose tucked under his tail, his eyes closed. However, Gid had that feeling that he wasn't asleep at all. He usually got the feeling the Aramis was actually a nosy, old man trapped in a cat's body who liked to spy on the people around him. The form of a feline was possibly the best cover, no one ever cared that a cat was in the room. Most people never noticed them. Narrowing his eyes at his pet for a moment, Gideon looked back up at the girl. There was color in her cheeks where there hadn't been before. It was strange; Gideon almost never noticed people the way he was noticing things about this girl. She seemed to be blushing and he wondered why. He cocked his head a little to the side, watching her. As she spoke, his eyes gravitated towards her mouth. The thoughts that entered his head made him feel awkward standing there. Awkward and nervous and a little sweaty -- and his palms had kind of gotten clammy.
This wasn't an altogether new feeling for him, but it wasn't one he wanted to explore. Especially not here, in this compartment, with this girl, with his cat in the vicinity. Gideon averted his eyes to stare at the compartment floor, trying to shake the feeling. Drawing his hands from his pockets, he rubbed them on the back of his pants, attempting to rid them of the clammy feeling. Wasn't this a curious situation? Despite his minimal experience, Gideon knew exactly what this feeling was and he couldn't say he was happy about it. It set him off-kilter again, made him tense after relaxing. He wanted to curse and slap his forehead for even thinking the thoughts he had. He'd never been unable to control them as he was unable to now. He would leave, but it might seem strange not to mention rude. It was curious and extremely unconventional. It was a dirty trick the universe was playing on him. Letting him meet a person he could talk freely with only to find that it was much more complicated than it had seemed. After all, who said that nothing was unconditional?
"Uh," Gideon began, taken off-guard at her question. He didn't honestly want to leave, as much as he thought he did, but he was hesitant to stay as well. For one, he needed to find Reigh. For another, what if his earlier ease had been a fluke? What if he stayed and found he couldn't actually string together a sentence at all? He laughed nervously at her joke and swallowed, glancing over at Aramis. The cat was looking at him now, an expectant look in his emerald-colored eyes. Gideon would swear the cat knew exactly what was going on his head. Resisting the urge to scowl at the animal, he took in a deep breath and tried the whole not-thinking-about-it thing. "I don't know," he said. "Sharing a compartment seems kind of heavy, I don't even know your name." Gideon smiled slightly, surprised at how easy it had been to just let the words. It that how it worked? Did it get easier as you did it, as you practiced so to speak?
sorry it's short, my muse decided to flee xP

Gage to Gideon She laughed, pleasantly surprised that he hadn't thoroughly declined her offer. Maybe she'd get a little one on one time with Gideon after all. Holding out her hand in a straight forward manner, Gage gave him a full smile. "Gage Russo, at your service." It was simple enough. Conversation had never been hard for her. She had grown up in a large household, and even as her siblings dispersed one by one, the family still grew. Nieces and nephews filled her every day life when she was out of school, not to mention any of their friends that may accompany them. When she stayed with her father, he would become a work-aholic, leaving her to her own devices. This meant exploring new areas of Italy, traveling to new cities. She had a muggle Euro-rail pass and would go on day long trips to other European countries, meeting new people along the way. Conversation had become her only link that saved her from complete isolation.
Gage wasn't a prudish girl, not in the least. She knew quite well how awkward she could make other people feel just by being herself. She was brash at times, with literally no filter between her brain and her mouth sometimes. She liked to joke around and use sarcasm as much as was humanly possible. This, of course, led to odd and confused looks at times. It was a price she paid for being unique, and one she was willing to keep paying if it meant complete freedom. After all, that willingness to take risks had landed her in this situation in the present time.
"I'm a sixth year in Ravenclaw, so it's odd we never met before now. I think you're friends with one of my best friends, Reigh Braxton?" She hoped the name would jog some kind of memory for him. Maybe he'd remember seeing her around the common room, or perhaps hanging out with Reigh in the Great Hall or something? It was a long shot, but who could blame a girl for trying?
ooc: sucks big time! sorry!
